Flash, Flair Not Important to Witten
Scout.com: Flash, Flair Not Important to Witten: "Even socially, Witten is willing to go understated. On this night, he is surrounded by some of 'the beautiful people’’ of Dallas; Tommy Bahama shirts on the men, shoes like stepladders on the women. Yet Witten, dressed as if he just finished a round of golf at the local muni, might as well be a fern in the corner of the room. Nobody knows him, nobody cares. They are too busy with their 10-dollar drinks to know the difference between Jason Witten and Tony Curtis. Or even to know the difference between Tony 'Some Like It Hot'' Curtis and Tony 'Is He Fourth-String Or Fifth-String?'' Curtis.
Which is fine with Witten, the University of Tennessee good ol’ boy who has long been a favorite of coach Bill Parcells. "

Schools finding bigger not always better
Rivals.com College Football - Schools finding bigger not always better: "The University of Tennessee's ongoing $107 million renovation to Neyland Stadium will create a small decrease to the seating capacity. Neyland, which is the third-largest stadium in college football with a capacity 104,079, will hold around 101,000 when the five-phase project is completed in 2010.
A look at what Neyland Stadium will look like after renovations are completed.
Instead of making room for more fans, the renovation focuses on making repairs to Neyland and improving amenities to the 85-year old structure, which has garnered a reputation for its small seats and cramped atmosphere. About 1,900 club seats are being added. The number of restrooms will triple and more concession stands and plazas are being created. Repairs are being made to the foundation, sewage, lighting and electrical systems as well."
SportingNews.com - College Football - The Vols will be better but won't win the East: "SN forecasts a 9-3 record for Tennessee. But we don't see the Vols winning the SEC East. In fact, we have them going 5-3 in the league. That's better than last year's 3-5 league mark, but will the face-painting crowd be satisfied with, say, another Peach or Outback Bowl bid?"

Many others over the last 35 years, however, have not been as kind to the pollsters, often fading quickly and failing to meet their advanced billing."

The State | 06/01/2006 | SEC coaches fear creation of free agents: "DESTIN, Fla. — The SEC’s coaches want the NCAA to overturn a new rule that could have the effect of introducing free agency to college athletics.
Passed in April, the legislation allows players who have graduated and have a fifth year of eligibility remaining to transfer to another school without penalty. The intent of the rule is to give athletes a chance to pursue a graduate degree that might not be offered at the school where they received their undergraduate degree.
But officials in the SEC and elsewhere worry that it might prompt some coaches to pluck players from the rosters of smaller schools."
