Sanders Out after Season This is what I have so far from the press conference at 4:15 pm today (via Vol Nation)
WVLT: Sanders resigned but will finish out the season.
Fulmers quotes:
"Its been a difficult season for everyone. The results are not any one person's fault. Randy is a true Volunteer, an outstanding coach, and a great friend. We are a few plays away from having a great season. Randy has unselfishly asked to step down at the end of the year. I am sad that it has come to this. The playcalling duties will be shared by the offensive staff."
Sanders quotes:
"UT has meant a lot to me the last 22 years. It's been a big part of my life. I will miss this place. The last few weeks have brought me to the realization that there is a lot more to life than this. Things are out of kilter. I don't know that it's all my fault, but it's my ship. I've never been afriad to change QB's. I am looking forward to winning the next four games. My efforts will not slow even though I won't be back next year."

Sanders Expected to Step Down as UT Offensive Coordinator - Monday, 10/31/05: "Tennessee Coach Phillip Fulmer is expected to announce later this afternoon that Randy Sanders will step down as the Vols' offensive coordinator, although Sanders will stay on staff for the remainder of the season as quarterbacks coach.
Fulmer will take over the play-calling duties and offensive coordinator responsibilities for the rest of the seson"

A Halloween October surprise? Fulmer to make major staff changes at Tennessee
GREAT SPORTS: "At least two reliable sources within The University of Tennessee Athletics Department have confirmed that Head Football Coach Phillip Fulmer will make several major changes in his staff at the end of this current football season. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, these staffers, one of whom is an Assistant Athletics Director, said that at least three coaches will be terminated or will submit their resignations or retirements.
The two slated to be axed are Wide Receivers Coach Pat Washington, who has been on The Hill since 1995, and Offensive Line Coach Jimmy Ray Stephens, who has been at UT since 2002."

UT Southern Standard: "KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer has seen the Volunteers at their finest as Southeastern Conference and national champions.
He's now witnessing the lowest point of his tenure, and it could get worse.
Steve Spurrier's South Carolina beat the Vols 16-15 Saturday night, extending their losing streak to three for the first time under Fulmer.
This week Tennessee (3-4, 2-4) travels to No. 8 Notre Dame, and a loss there would have the Vols scrambling to win their final three games just be to bowl eligible. Tennessee, ranked No. 23 last week, dropped out of the poll for the first time since 2002.
'In my 13 years here we haven't had a season like this one. It's been tough,' Fulmer said. 'We just haven't made any plays. It's not play-calling. It's not just one position.'"

Spurrier and Fulmer Do Get Along
WLTX Sports: "'Well, I don't think either one of us had a whole lot to be proud of with the different things going on,' Fulmer said. 'He managed his, and we managed ours and I think both of us have it behind us. ... Like I said, he can take care of his shop and I can take care of mine.'
Spurrier insisted he and Fulmer 'actually get along pretty well,' saying he considered him a friend. Fulmer, for his part, said he respects Spurrier, whom he called 'a heck of a guy.'

South Carolina Media Days Comments From Vols' Fulmer
Sports - Chattanoogan.com: "'Regarding South Carolina, they’re a very good football team. They’re a well-coached football team. Their quarterback (Blake Mitchell) has thrown for about a 64 percent completion rate on his passes. They’ve got the leading receiver in the Southeastern Conference as far as total yards (in Sidney Rice). Their style of attack is vertical down the field with crossing routes, screens, draws, reverses, all kinds of things to try to keep you off balance. So we’ve got a big challenge ahead for ourselves from a defensive standpoint – particularly with the vertical passing game and the deep balls. "
