A Halloween October surprise? Fulmer to make major staff changes at Tennessee
GREAT SPORTS: "At least two reliable sources within The University of Tennessee Athletics Department have confirmed that Head Football Coach Phillip Fulmer will make several major changes in his staff at the end of this current football season. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, these staffers, one of whom is an Assistant Athletics Director, said that at least three coaches will be terminated or will submit their resignations or retirements.

The two slated to be axed are Wide Receivers Coach Pat Washington, who has been on The Hill since 1995, and Offensive Line Coach Jimmy Ray Stephens, who has been at UT since 2002."
Comments:
If one of the names is not Randy Sanders, why bother?

According to the article we may not be so lucky
"Cutcliffe would not agree to return if it meant that would be at the expense of his longtime friend Sanders."

Well my theory on this is that Cutcliffe would be the real coordinator, while Sanders would go onto be the waterboy or some other meaningless position. I'm ok with him being something like towel boy, but after the game on Saturday I'm ready to see someone get fired. This article was hopeful.

if you read that complete article, major, major changes are looming. Cutcliffe will be the coordinator, its just going to be how they "handle" it. Fulmer has never been one to publically show up a coach or player, thats just not his style. They are going to make moves, apparently, just not in a loud fashion. Apparently the secondary coach is done as well, and they are hiring a special teams coach (someone from the VT staff please?) and then a new recievers and OL coach. wow. its christmas kids, christmas!

Looks like Sanders is stepping down: check the main page for more details

Cutcliffe's loyalty to Sanders would be a huge mistake for his career. He'll take it if he has any desire to win again. Washington needs to get out now, our receivers have sucked since the 98 squad, and most of those guys were there before Washington got there if I remember right.

Sanders must go, and all this Cutcliffe talk is ridiculous as well. Bring in somebody with some offensive creativity who has not already been negatively affected by the current coaching staff. Fulmer should be on the hot seat as well. All the off-season trouble and now a 3-4 start.

4:15 press confrnc. to say that Randy is stepping down but will stay on staff this season to coach qbs and Phil will take over the offense....

It's Halloween and the great pumpkin has spoken Sanders done after this year but the questions is will he get a piece of the pity pumpkin pie that Vickie Fulmer makes for him or will the great pumpkin keep it all for himself?

I am with that first comment. If one of the names is not Randy Sanders, why bother.

Other than at tailback or linebacker, where have the athleticism gone in UT football (and mabye the D line)!!! I think it's a combination of Sanders and whoever the recruiters are!! I think you have to look at teh whole staff, including Fulmer. No one wants to make a decision on the QB situation. Just a horrible season capped off by a patheticlo loss to Stanky Steve Spurrier, and probably an embarrassing loss to Vanderbuilt!! I wouldn't be surprised!!!

Speaking of Vanderbilt. When was the last time that Vanderbilt outplays the Vols? Vandy doing a whole lot better than the Vols are.
